“Since we started using BBLeap, our dream has come true”

How the Teeuwen family achieved control, efficiency, and certainty in their cultivation

Perfection in flower bulbs

Teeuwen & Zn. B.V., a modern flower bulb nursery in Breezand (North Holland), cultivates approximately 85 hectares of daffodils, crocuses, alliums, irises, muscari, tulips, and callas. For generations, they have strived for perfection: a wide assortment, carefully grown on the best sandy soils, delivered in top quality to customers at home and abroad.

Their mission aligns seamlessly with BBLeap’s vision: Clean Food, Clean World. Growing flower bulbs healthily with an eye for their environment, wasting fewer resources, and contributing to more sustainable agriculture.

Confidence in the sprayer of the future

Peter and his son Mark are responsible for the spraying operations. When their 17-year-old field sprayer needed replacement, they made a clear choice: investing in a future-oriented solution.

“In consultation with Hollands Noordkop and BBLeap, we decided on the ‘Evolutionary,’ our self-propelled field sprayer, fully controlled by BBLeap’s LeapBox,” Peter explains.

What no longer worked

Where the old machine was not always accurate enough, BBLeap now shows what precision truly means. The LeapBox controls not only the pulsating nozzle technology but also the boom height control, balance, and rinsing program.

“The system is always perfect in its application, and we always come out right.” – Peter Teeuwen

The solution: LeapBox & LeapSpace

Since the Teeuwen family began working with BBLeap, they experience the power of Excellent Spraying in practice every day:

  • Choosing the right droplet size without losing application volume or speed → always perfect coverage.
  • With 22.5 cm nozzle spacing, the path between the beds no longer needs to be sprayed → immediate 12% savings.
  • The ability to perform spot spraying and, soon, plant-specific applications.

“We see that BBLeap truly delivers on its promise of Excellent Spraying; the spraying technology is so good that we can really make progress.” – Mark Teeuwen

An investment in the future

The financial benefit cannot be fully calculated after just one season, but the feeling is clear: “We are doing it better. And that gives us confidence that we will earn back the system quickly,” says Peter.

“Additionally, it is an investment in social responsibility. Future regulations and stricter environmental requirements play a role, but even more importantly, we see our crops becoming more vital.”

“With BBLeap, we are investing in the future of our cultivation and our living environment. That provides peace of mind regarding the future.”

Our dream has come true

Thanks to the collaboration with Hollands Noordkop, Dronebotics, Mechan Group, and BBLeap consultant Koen Voordendag, the Teeuwens were already able to use task maps via drone flights for targeted weed control in 2024.

“The grass patches were mapped out, the task maps were prepared in LeapSpace, and we could easily select the right one in the cabin. The result was excellent: savings on products and more vital crops,” says Mark.

With this, our dream from a few years ago has come true!” – Mark Teeuwen

Ready for plant-specific spraying

The next step is to extend the experience gained to their entire cultivation. Thanks to the 22.5 cm nozzle spacing in bed cultivation, the Teeuwens can now develop an action plan for plant- and species-specific applications.

“This is going to help us work even more purposefully and allow our crops to benefit maximally,” says Mark.

What they want to share with colleagues

Their message to other growers is clear:
“Invest in BBLeap’s technology. Whether it’s on your existing sprayer or a new one: you won’t regret it.”
